Who in the World is Michelle Ponto?

Michelle A. Ponto has a cross-disciplinary education in business, communications and fine arts. Originally born in Canada, she has lived in various cities across North America including Toronto, Regina, the Vancouver area, Tampa, Memphis, Houston and Sacramento, California. She's also lived in Mannheim, Germany.

With over fifteen years of writing experience, Michelle has written everything from commercials and news content, to articles and TV pilots. During this time, she has worked for a number of different fortune 500 companies and advertising agencies including Discovery Channel, CBS News, Home Shopping Network, Harlequin, The New York Times, Ford, Foster Parents Plan, QuickPlay Media and Teehan Lax/Modem.

A lover of action-packed adventures, Michelle has traveled frequently to different parts of the world including Morocco, Europe, the UK, the United States and numerous tropical islands. Currently she resides in Sacramento where she works as a writer/web journalist, and is either busy creating brilliant interactive segments, writing her next book or developing a screenplay/TV pilot. 

Five things about Michelle:

1. Favorite authors include Margaret Atwood, Douglas Adams, Tony Gilroy and the Wachowski Brothers.

2. Michelle's latest obsession is surfing --not on the internet, but actually in the water. But don't worry, she's not quite coordinated enough to give up writing for the 9-foot waves.

3. Michelle has a Bachelor of Applied Arts in Communications, an Honors BA in Fine Arts, a 3-year Associates in Accounting/Finance and a Associates in Fitness Training, but really, deep down, she has always been a writer.

4. Michelle has a secret addiction to karaoke, but sadly she sucks at singing and will never be the next American Idol.

5. Michelle also has a not-so-secret addiction to chocolate peppermint patties and keeps a stash of them in her desk. She will only share them if you are having a really really bad day.

Associations:

Canadian Authors Association: Michelle was the Vice President for the Toronto Board of Directors for this organization for the 2005-2006 term. This is where she met fellow writer, Mary Jennifer Payne
